Wholemeal Tortilla with Wild Mushroom & Cooked Ham

One fine morning, I had itching hands thus I decided to make Wild Mushrooms and Ham. The ingredients that are needed are Wild Fresh Mushrooms, ham or bacon, rock salt, freshly grind black pepper, pink peppercorns, marjoram, tarragon, oregano and vodka.



First, place the pink peppercorns in hot olive oil and cook until fragrant.



Add in the ham or bacon that was cut to size.
After the ham is caramelised, add in the mushrooms and stir fry until the mushrooms are caramelised too. Remember, use a big pan with high heat when you have lots of mushrooms. If not it will not caramelised and become soggy.
Add in the herbs according to your taste and season as you pleased and stir properly.


Then pour some vodka and flame bay it to get rid of the alcohol and leave the tangy taste in.



It is done when the juices are all soaked up and dry.


Heat up some tortillas on the pan.

Get ready some greens, preferably something that has some moisture like lettuce. Then wrap the mushrooms and greens and wallah breakfast is served.

Sipa Cous Cous

This cous cous was brought back by my Auntie who worked for contract basis in Saudi Arabia.

Well, as i asked her a favour to buy some local foods for us to try out, and she brought back alot of spices and Middle East local product, like: Big Dates, Olive in Can, Masala, Kebab Marinate Spices, Hummus...etc

This cous cous is just something similiar to what we can get in malaysia. nothing special.


But the packaging has definately gives me "Made in Saudi" feeling with the Camel Graphic...Haa.

Cheese Fondue

We have had Cheese Fondue bought from Europe and we have also tried our hands to make our home cheese fondue concoction. Why did we came to a point to prepare our home made cheese fondue are mainly because it is hard to find pre-mix and pre-prepare fondues in our local grocery stores/supermarket's, some of our friends are not acquainted with the cheese ingredients used and the heavy taste of Kirsch(Swedish liqueur).




The ready made fondue packages bought and supplied by my brother-in-law is always bought on his trips to Europe, is his and our favourite at our get together. It is laced with Kirsch and a bit heavy on the liqueur taste. Thus, it might also be unsuitable for children. With that in mind, therefore me and Gill have experimented mixing different types of cheese that can be source locally at lower prices to make the cheese mix and also tried using different types of wines as the base. After many tries, we achieved success but I have forgotten what I used and at what proportion. Damn!

Last Christmas, at Cold Storage Gurney Plaza we chance upon a ready made cheese fondue from France. We still have that packet in storage, and are waiting for the right occasion to try.

As for the side-dishes or complimentary food to take with the cheese fondue, we have also tested with different types of meat and bread. So far our favourite is the chinese roast pork, grilled sausages and toasted bread. Another good companion with the cheese fondue is wine and friends. But caution is needed when savouring fondue with friends unless you have intentions, do not let the cheese drip to the table or floor, if it does drip you would have to kiss the person next to you. So remember do not sit beside person of the same sex!

Other fondues that we are planning to experiment with are olive oil fondue and chocolate.

Goteborys Biscuits @ Ikea


Another Sweden Food product we discovered with high recommandation. Well, not much places can get sweden food product unless in Ikea. We bought this double layer fillings biscuit home since last year. Previously they sells only 2 flavours, which is Chocolate & Hazelnut Cream (in red packing) & Rasberry Jam (in blue packing). And now imported one more Lemon Lime & Vanila Cream flavour early this year.....i guess these biscuit are hot selling item.

These biscuit are truly good for snack at anytime. Its full feel your desire when put the whole piece into your mouth and give a big munch! chrunchy double layer biscuit filled with creamy and juicy texture jam.....wulala...wonderful.

Celebration Chocolate - UK



My Brother In-law bought this for us after finished his tour guiding from Europe.

Celebration Chocolate with outstanding packaging design. Total of 8 different chocolate's product from same manufacturer, consider is their sub brand. So you get 8 chocolate flavour in one box, have caremel, coconut, milky, mars, ....etc



All of them are great! Those chocolate mild in taste, the texture are pretty fine and it goes well with the ceremel, both flavor implement each other. you wont feel bored eating this, unless you are not the chocolate lover.

by the way, Jason saids he saw some of the sub brand are selling in Cold Storage, well, they are certainly expensive.

Estrella Dill Chips @ Ikea



Ermm...potato chips with dill (herb) flavor? Kinda weird isnt it? The taste was weird for the first bite, but end up i finished it all! haaa.... actually i started to buy this Estrella Dill Chips from Ikea since last year ago. You can find this chips in Ikea ground floor, a sweden made food corner which opposite the cashier counters, and next to the fast food section.

There are 2 types packing, one with green color, which is the above packing, another one is with white color packing. Green packing is a normal version, but i feel that is abit oily. White packing is the lighter version, and i like this one. The dill flavor is acceptable.

Try! and you will love it!

This is my mother's version of fried bee thai bak with dried shrimp, ku chai, tauge, a special sauce. most interesting part is, dress some chrunchy deep fried shrimp on top of it.....i gurantee you will fall in love with it! you will never find it else where...
I sold this at pulau tikus "Bee Hooi - 美圆" kopitiam few years back.
